This was painful. As much as I enjoyed Bad Weather Friend, I didn't enjoy this book at all.
Again, a protagonist who has a strange youth. Meets a girl that he is very awkward around. There is then an older character that is like a guide (and in this book a dog, Winston, only character I actually really liked). They then all go on a quest.
Beginning was ok, middle veeeery laborious and boring, end ok and couldn't come quickly enough.
I think I will give Dean Koontz a break for a bit.
