Audiobook: Whitney, Niel Joubert

This audiobook came with News24's monthly subscription.

I only realised a few days before the end of March that it was available, so have spent a lot of time making sure I work through it.

I didn't enjoy the narration, it was veery slow. With other audiobooks you can speed up the narration, it wasn't possible with this one, which was a quite frustrating. The narration was very dry. I think I would have enjoyed the book more in Afrikaans and to read it myself. The content is fantastic.

Key take home for me:
Internal culture is crucial.
The people you do business with is incredibly important.
It's about the benefit to all, good quality at lower prices.
Don't let failures stand in your way.

He saw right through Markus Jooste, so was fortunately not drawn into Steinhoff scandal, albeit his very good friend Cobus Wiese being very upset with him for not buying into the Steinhoff dream.

Kindle: The Vegetarian, Han Kang

Super super weird.

Started off strong, realy enjoyed it and then it fizzled for me into weirdness.

Sadness , despondency is the general feeling from this book.

Three parts, a women who has a dream after which she decides not to eat meat anymore. Second section is from the perspective of her brother in law and the last, her sister.

Trigger warnings: Animal cruelty, abuse, violence, rape, anorexia.

Very weird, I am pretty certain the actual deeper meaning is way over my head.
