Thrilling! Enthralled from the beginning.
We meet Heidi, very charitable, helps refugees with their English. She is married to Chris, a finance guy, and they have a 12 year old, Zoe who I am pretty sure has an eating disorder.
Heidi keeps spotting a homeless girl with a baby and eventually invites her to their home. She is Willow, and the baby, Ruby.
Heidi totally zooms in on Ruby, she wanted lots of children, but unfortunately due to cancer lost their second child and any future opportunities to have children.
We also learn about Willow's sad upbringing, losing her parents in a car crash and being taken in by an uncle that abuses her.
What threw me a bit was that right at the end was a totally different character introduced to us, which made absolutely no sense. Turns out it is the beginning of the next book she wrote.
4/5
